About Me

Yes, I really am a Jewskimo.

My Grandma Lena as a baby, with her mother, grandmother and great-aunt.

My Grandma Lena as a baby, with her mother, grandmother and great-aunt.

My dad was born and raised in Miami, and growing up, my mother and her seven siblings comprised almost 10 percent of a tiny Alaskan village called Tanana. (Things get *really* complicated when I introduce my Colombian grandmother and the Mormon family into the mix, but I’ll save those for another day.)

Why The Jewskimo blog?

I have perpetual wanderlust and an emotional connection to my favorite foods that rivals that of my favorite people, which is how this blog came to be. I’m hoping to document some fantastic gastronomical and travel escapades on this site! So far, two new countries down…but so many more to go.

So much Jewskimo happening in my mom's home office.

So – a big thank you to Faye of Faye’s Fork and Nicole of Funthusiast for pushing this former newspaper reporter to start writing again.

Here’s to grabbing life by the balls, and always looking for the next adventure!
